Mercedes-Benz W204 (C300, E350, ML350, & More) Camshaft Adjuster Solenoid Repair Kit - Features, Symptoms, And Product Review
This camshaft adjuster solenoid repair kit is designed for Mercedes-Benz models featuring the M272 V6 and M273 V8 engines produced from 2007 through 2011. Our cam adjuster solenoid kit takes the ordering guesswork out of the replacement process.
The camshaft adjuster solenoid, also known as the cam adjuster magnet, on the Mercedes-Benz M272 and M273 is a simple mechanical component. Simply, it's a solenoid with a small piston that controls the path to the camshaft adjuster. This kit replaces all of your adjuster solenoids and everything else when doing this job.
Mercedes-Benz W204 Camshaft Adjuster Solenoid Failure Symptoms
When your camshaft adjustment solenoids begin to fail, they're unable to adjust the position of the camshaft which in turn affects the timing. Your engine's computer is expecting it to be in a certain position and is receiving a completely different position. These solenoids fail by either getting physically stuck, or they begin leaking oil from around the seal or the electrical connector. The fault codes listed below are specific to certain camshaft adjustment solenoids and can help you determine which solenoid is actually failing.
So, the symptoms of a failing camshaft adjustment solenoid on your Mercedes-Benz W204 are pretty straightforward. The symptoms are:
- Check engine light illuminated
- Rough running
- Fault Codes

While we suggest replacing all of your camshaft adjustment solenoids when one is failing, there is a method to test exactly which one is the culprit of your problems. You can remove each solenoid and connect the leads to a 12v source. When they are functioning properly, you should hear them audibly click. When they aren't functioning, they won't make a sound.
