I’ve recently added Techna-Fit stainless brake lines to our online Mercedes catalog as a quality alternative to the original equipment brake hoses we offer. Stainless steel lines are designed to replace the short rubber lines that run from the brake system hard lines to your brake caliper with a more resilient design. The heart of this product is PTFE hose or Polytetrafluoroethylene hose, more commonly referred to as teflon. The benefits include a reduction in expansion compared to OE hoses, in some cases a more direct pedal feel especially if you are replacing hoses on an older vehicle, and greater abrasion resistance as a result of the coating applied to the outside of the stainless steel braid.

Rubber hose above encapsulated in nylon braid for reinforcement and with an additional rubber layer for protection from the environment.

We use Techna-Fit Stainless Steel brake lines on our Mercedes C300 endurance race car because of its resistance to expansion which leads to direct and consistent pedal feel during racing conditions. There is also a cost benefit to upgrading your brake hoses, as a set of comparable Genuine Mercedes hoses will typically cost 20% more than stainless with no added benefit. If you are replacing your brake lines due to age or deterioration, consider upgrading to our Techna-Fit Stainless Lines to take advantage of all of the benefits listed above.
